Dr Tarek Shalabi

Dr Tarek Shalabi is a cosmetic physician based in Brisbane, Australia, and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. In 2020, he moved into aesthetic medicine, and he now practises at his own clinic, Cosmetic Doctor Brisbane. He is also a visiting doctor at Pelle Clinic on the Sunshine Coast, which takes its own bookings. He sees every patient himself, from consultation to treatment. For cosmetic concerns, he looks at the face as a whole before discussing any one area. He explains the options, the risks and what recovery involves, and treats consent as a conversation rather than a form. Sometimes his advice is to have less treatment, or none at all. Where surgery would suit a patient better, he refers them on. He is an international trainer, teaching doctors and nurses in Australia and overseas. His sessions include full-face assessment and skin quality. In 2026, he presented ‘The Art of the Consultation’ to clinicians at a symposium in Sydney. He has served on advisory boards focused on new treatment protocols. Alongside cosmetic medicine, his practice includes mole removal and skin cancer management. He holds a dermoscopy certificate from the Australasian College of Dermatologists. After graduating in medicine from the University of Nottingham in 2012, he trained in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in the UK. During that training, his poster was named among the ten best of more than 1,800 abstracts accepted at EFORT, the European orthopaedic congress. His research in surgery and global health includes six peer-reviewed papers, five published abstracts and around 25 presentations at scientific meetings. In 2016, he joined Gold Coast University Hospital in Australia, working in emergency medicine before qualifying in general practice.
